Don’t Get Scammed
Several of my pastor friends and colleagues have been targeted by “phishing” scams. A phishing scam is when someone pretends to be someone else to solicit money. A common way this happens is requesting gift cards by email or by text. Here are some things you can do to avoid being targeted:
- Don’t fall for this scam. I will never request gift cards or cash gifts.
- Don’t share church directories or other personal information with strangers.
- If you have a question of whether not a request came from me or from the church, just reach out to us by phone. Never respond to emails or texts that you’re not sure about.
